It’s amazingly encouraging how women are getting fully involved in games. There’s no longer a strange feeling about women getting off heels, hitting the gym, gaining a muscle and shining in short-put, javelin and in among other indoor tracks games; high and long jumps. How women adorn activewear, practice hearts out and eventually get into sportswear amidst the incredible beauty and shine in not only local but also international games around the globe. Indeed every day is an international women’s day!
The question whether sports create superstars or superstars create sports requires a psychological approach. However, we can’t debate any sociological underpinning how indifferent women are succeeding in NFL. This is one sport that represents one of the most successful women athletes. While Paige Kouba shows a sense of responsibility for Harvard Women’s tracks and field team co-captainship, the Lamoureusx twins from the PyeongChang Olympics are expected to perform the best in the 2018 Olympics. Did you know that UBC discriminated women from the track and field until the 1960s? Well, it’s all over now and women the likes of Canadian’s Myrtle Cook Bell, Ethyl Catherwood and Bobbie Rosenfield prove the point. U.S. NCAA Division I indoor track and field national rankings show week six’s hottest review ever. Georgia, after finishing second at the SEC Indoor Champs vaults the top spot. Lynna Irby’s 22.66 at the national’s best 200 now ranks fourth in the collegiate record books, as Arkansas slips a bit to rank second. In all these places, women show no-return spirit and as we brace for the 2018 Olympics, the best is expected of women’s field and track.
